Micromax backed HealthifyMe Gets Second Round of Funding

HealthifyMe, the mobile fitness and weight loss program startup which is backed up by Micromax, has announced it receiving the second round of funding from angel investors. Angel investors include Gopal Srinivasan of TVS Capital, Sashi Reddi of AppLabs, Amit Gupta of InMobi, Pallav Nadhani of FusionCharts and Dr.Roopa Nath. The amount raised has not been disclosed.

The Indian-startup HealthifyMe founded by Tushar Vashist and Sachin Shenoy aims to offer a fun and creative mobile and web solution to simplify healthy living. It has the largest Indian food database, a calorie counter and an exercise tracker. The app allows its user its users to keep a track of its diet and workout progress keeping in mind its Indian audience. The startup has partnered with health institutes like Medanta, Apollo and Manipal, where its app has been used in treating and preventing clinical obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular problems and other lifestyle diseases.



Healthify intends to use the new funds to expand and to recruit more than 1000 nutritionists and fitness trainers. As a means to expand its operations globally, HealthifyMe is soon to establish its global head-quarters in Singapore. With the funding, it plans to launch several low-cost plans among other offerings. The plans include an in-app real-time access to the nutritionists, trainers or instructors to work digitally and help the user on their weight loss or fitness goals. Diet plans, workout plans, and other online community support and many more will be offered to the clients directly.

As more and more Indians are becoming health conscious, there are many startups that are popping up in this health sector that are helping individuals to eat healthier food and provide assistance and keeps track of their workouts.
