Cab service provider, Meru Cab has today launched a new service called “Ride Share”. Users can use this service through Meru’s mobile app. As of now, the car Ride Share feature is only available in Delhi-NCR region. The company has launched this feature to tackle pollution and traffic congestion problems of the city.

The new feature from Meru Cab will allow customers to share their ride with another co-passenger, who are also planning to travel in the same direction. The company had also launched car pooling service earlier this year.

The Group CEO of Meru Cabs, Siddhartha Pahwa said about the development, “As an environmentally responsible taxi operator, Meru endeavors to provide customers multiple transport options depending on their needs. By choosing to share your personal vehicle with the Carpool service or sharing a CNG fuel Meru Cab via Ride Share, citizens can now contribute to solving the city’s travel woes.”

Interested customer will get an option for sharing their Meru Cabs ride with another passenger, who is also travelling in the same direction. The company will give 30 per cent discount to the user, who selected ride share option. This feature is only applicable if you book for the cab via company’s mobile app. Each rideshare trip can take a maximum of 2 bookings per ride with a maximum of 2 passengers per booking.

The ride share feature of Meru Cabs is going to be permanent, even after the 15 says odd-even rule in Delhi-NCR region. The company is going to launch this service to 10 more Indian cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Mumbai and some others by mid next year.
