LogicRoots raised $400K in angel funding from Club ah! and other angels investors. LogicRoots was founded in 2011 by Gunjan Agrawal and Kunal Gandhi. The company uses technology to develop board games. The online app to build the foundation of mathematical skills covering the entire curriculum from grade 1 to 5.
LogicRoots adopted an interactive approach to reach out its target audience at an early stage to address the challenges that students faces in later stage in mathematics. The company has developed programs, digital, cards and board games to make maths simpler for students. As per company claims they have developed 1000+ activities, 16 cards and board games and a digital games.
LogicRoots board games ‘Say Cheese’ is one of the best seller in Amazon India. The company caters to other markets such as the United States and Australia. Right now LogicRoots is concentrating on the development of the app, Mathaly, concentrating on the US and India markets. The app offers 2 core benefits, it addresses entire Maths curriculum from grade 1 to 5 through 650 granular skills. These skills set ensures that the curriculum aligned across the world that includes NCERT India, NCTM Singapore
and NC-US. The app has repeat value among kids. Students will come back and practice Maths, which was earlier a concern for parents and teachers.
Kunal Gandhi of LogicRoots says “Over the course of next 12 months our focus is to build stickiness and repeat value among students for Mathaly. “Logic Roots was started with a vision to change the way students practice maths. Because maths is all about practicing, the more you practice the more you get better at it. We are gamifying entire maths curriculum to help kids generate up to 20 times more practice. This is done through apps, maths board games and maths activities,” said Gunjan Agrawal, co founder of LogicRoots.
Gunjan Agarwal is the co founder of LogicRoots. He has graduated in Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2003. He later went on do his Masters in Science in Operations Research and Statistics from University of North Carolina in 2006.
During his college days he had co ordinated several events at the biggest university cultural fests at IIT Bombay. He has awarded a merit based on graduate research assistantship in the University of North Carolina. Gunjan started his career in 2003 as programming engineer in Syntel India Ltd and moved as junior research fellow in Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2003 to 2004.
He joined as Research Assistant in the FUQUA School of Business, Duke University in Dec 2004, worked on portfolio optimization using parametric weights, finding co efficents by optimizing the investor’s average utility of portfolio’s return. He worked in the company for 18 months and moved SAS as Research Assistant in May 2005. He then joined as Quantitative Associate in Barclays Capital in Sept 2006.
In Jul 2007 he founded menufry.com and in Oct 2008 he became the director of Dimension 4 Web Services P Ltd – the company conduct test like pathology labs using scientifically designed papers to test the knowledge and skills of the students, based on their class and age.
Prior co founding LogicRoots in Jul 2011 he became Head of the Product Development Team at SchoolCountry. SchoolCountry is into games development, activities and applications for kids. The games are based on curriculum based activities.
Kunal Gandhi is co founder of LogicRoots. He has graduated in Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2003 and went on to do Master of Business Administration from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad in 2007.
Kunal started his career as Application specialist in Fluent Technology in 2003 and worked till June 2005 for 2 years. He moved on to work as Summer Associate in Lehman Brothers for 4 months and joined as Engagement Manager in Mckinsey and Company in June 2007. He long stint with the company for 50 months and founded SchoolCountry in July 2011. He joined Gunjan to found
LogicRoots in Dec 2011.
Jaipur based company has been seed funded by angel investors like Calcutta Angels and 91Springboard. Calcutta Angels or CA is a platform for entrepreneurs and investors to come on board to create enabling environment for angel investments, they provide mentor ship and guidance in East India. The firm is founded Raghav Kanoria, Pradyumna Dalmia and Kumar Patodia. Till now the company has invested in startups like Catpooolt, Klip.in and LogicRoots.
On the other hand 91Springboard provides plug and play office space – like infrastructure, internet, printing, phone, security and power backup without the hassles of managing it. The company is micro venture capitalist and venture capital based. It’s been managed by Anand Vemuri, Varun Chawla and Pushpendra Thakur. This is the first investment for the firm.
Club ah! is an angel network of more than 400 investors has invested in LogicRoots. The angel capital firm has invested nearly 24 Crores rupees in 12 startups till now. They include Hashcube and Bluegape. Another 3 more deals will get closed shortly.
One of the angel investors Shruti Patni said during the funding, “Learning through games is wonderful proposition, not only for kids but also for adults. My eight-year-old son is already a fan.”
