Lenovo Reportedly Prepping Windows Phone 8.1 Handset and Wearable Devices

The Windows Phone based smartphones are said to be increasing in numbers as many manufacturers are planning to launch such phones into the market. The same was announced by Microsoft at the Mobile World Congress 2014 tech show held in Barcelona earlier this year.

In fact, the Redmond based software giant also revealed the names of those OEMs that the firm has partnered with to build new smartphones that will utilize the Windows Phone platform. One of the manufacturers is China based Lenovo and it is rumored to be working on a phone running the Windows Phone operating system.

As per a report by Mobile Geeks, the device will be pre-installed with Windows Phone 8.1 platform and it will witness the spotlight by the end of this year. The website claims that the President of Lenovo’s Mobile Business Group, Liu Jun has stated that the firm will be announcing a Windows Phone 8.1 device this year. For now, we do not have any information pertaining to the specifications of this phone under development.

Interestingly, the same source has revealed that Lenovo is also planning to venture into the wearable device industry. Reportedly, the executive from the firm has given a hint about the company’s plans to release wearable devices in the near future. May be, we can expect the wearable device to be launched later this year along with the Windows Phone based device.
