Idea’s two budget 3G Android smartphone
Taking advantage of the decent run with its self-name smartphones, Idea Cellular on Tuesday showcased two new Android running smartphones, the Fab and Ultra+, tagged at Rs. 4,999 and Rs. 8,300 respectively.
Let’s first talk about the Ultra+, a dual SIM smartphone running Android Jelly Bean but according to the sources, soon this device will get the Kitkat update. It has an 1.3 GHz quad-core processor(chipset unspecified) coupled with 1 GB of RAM. The ODM for Idea’s Ultra+ is Alcatel. The handset also includes a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 480×854 pixel which is not up to the mark if we compare it to available device in same price range. There is also an 8-megapixel camera with flash. A 2000 mAh battery will provide the juice for the Ultra+. Apart from the internal storage space of 4 GB, 2GB is available for users also you can expand the storage space up to 32 GB via micro SD card.
The comparatively cheaper Idea Fab dual-SIM smartphone has a smaller 4-inch screen with a resolution of 480×800 pixels. The Android 4.2 Jelly Bean-based Fab will be manufactured by Commtel. It has a 3.2-megapixel rear camera with flash and no front-facing camera. A 1.2GHz dual-core processor sits under the hood, coupled with 512MB of RAM. Featuring 4GB of built-in storage, Idea Fab also accepts microSD cards up to 32GB.

Both the devices are targeted at the Idea Cellular’s key 3G markets including Kerala, Maharashtra & Goa, Uttar Pradesh (East), Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (West), and Punjab. They will be sold through its retail channels and Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular, additionally said that Idea will use a below-the-line marketing strategy to sell these two smartphones in India.
