While telecom operators in India are getting ready with infrastructure for 4G rollout across. At the same breadth, a number of mobile phone manufactures are rolling out 4G smart phone at a price point which no one can resist. Some are planning to release their products and others are already launched the products in India even before the pan India launch of 4G services.
Presently, Airtel is offering 4G services in 15 cities in India and expanding its footprint. Things are warming up and it will change next few months once Reliance Jio’s rollout in mid of 2015.
Currently handsets supporting both TD-LTE and FDD-LTE from Apple, HTC and Oppo are offered at the price band of above 30,000. However smartphone manufactures like Xiaomi, Xolo, Gionee, Lenovo, Micromax Cyanogen and Microsoft have launched phones at various price points from of Rs.8, 000 to Rs.15, 000.
Huawei jumps into 4G bandwagon in India, next few months. Phones will be positioned under Rs.10, 000 competing directly with Xiaomi Redmi Note (4G) and Yu’s Yureka smartphone. The company has succeeded in making quality products and reasonable price, their latest Honor Holly comes as an example.
Indian consumers will be spoilt for choices for the smartphones in next few months, which will take a different league once the launch of 4G services riding on 1800 MHz to 2300 MHz. It would be interesting to watch when these device manufacturers tie up with mobile service providers like Airtel, Reliance Jio, BSNL or Aircel to market their 4G phones. Xiaomi tied up with Airtel as preferred operator partner. We have wait and watch how other device manufactures equip themselves with changing pattern of data consumption of consumers.
