HTC RE Action camera announced officially for $199

HTC has making plans to step out of the smartphone comfort zone and on the way it has announced ab action camera. The device is named as HTC RE, it features a 16 MP 1/2.3″ CMOS sensor and 146° ultra wide angle lens. Since it is an action camera, it is IP57 certified dust and water resistant, you can also change the certification to the IPx8 with an accessory cap.


HTC RE action camera can records videos 1080p@30 fps and 720p@120 fps slow-motion videos as well. Inside the device there is a grip sensor, which activates the camera when you pick it up. On board it features a large shutter button, which can capture the photos when you press it for short time and records videos when you press and hold it for long time.

It packs the battery of 820 mAh capacity and you can take 1200 16 MP photos or 1 hour 40 minutes of 1080p video footage. The other specifications it includes are 8 GB internal memory along with the micro SD card of 128 GB, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are used to connect this action camera with your smartphone so that you can share and sync the photos and videos.

Along with this RE action camera HTC has made lots of accessories which includes stylish vertical charging stand, an extended battery a trio of mounts out of which one is clip-on and other is suction cup which lets you to place it on your dashboard. HTC also made an bicycle mount, which fits on the handlebar or round tube.

It could be available in the US by the end of this October and other market would be followed later and it is expected to come with price tag of $199.
