The devices from HTC are known for their photography capabilities and all this started off with the inclusion of the UltraPixel camera sensor in the One M7. Lately, the Taiwanese vendor has been focusing on launching smartphones with attention on the front camera quality. The handsets such as One M8, One Mini 2, Desire 816 and One E8 arrive with 5 MP front-facers onboard that can capture selfies with great quality.

Following on the same lines, there are media reports suggesting the firm is reportedly prepping a selfie phone. The Twitter based @evleaks posted that AT&T and testing this selfie phone and it will be dubbed HTC Eye. However, the handset’s images and other features remain a mystery for now.

While the aforementioned smartphones have 5 MP front-facers, this ultimate selfie smartphone is believed to feature a front-facer with higher megapixel count. We also do not have any information pertaining to the launch date of the alleged HTC Eye smartphone, but we expect the Taiwanese tech titan to launch it exclusively on AT&T and later expand the presence of the handset across the global markets.

So long, HTC has made revolution in the smartphone market with the UltraPixel camera technology and Duo Camera setup. While the former is an attempt to capture more light in order to enhance the quality of the images, the latter uses two cameras to click photos with depth of field. With the increasing trend of capturing selfies using smartphone cameras, the launch of a selfie smartphone will be the right one for many users.

Although its flash-equipped front camera is eye-catching, its image results aren’t as impressive as I’d hoped. Still, the flash will illuminate your face where other phones can’t, and the Desire Eye comes with fun software, is well-specced and waterproof too.
