How to get HTC One M8’s Blinkfeed launcher on LG Nexus 5

HTC recently launched new series smartphone offering tons of new features with it. The all new HTC One M8  phone also marked an update to the HTC Sense UI. Manufacturer skins like Sense can be a bit of a targeting subject, especially amongst Nexus users who are used to experiencing Android’s interface exactly as Google provided it.

I don’t know you will love it or not but frankly speaking I just love its UI and the features which I got after getting it, Sense 6.0 even offers some unique features that are not normally available on “vanilla” Android operating sysytem. Take BlinkFeed for instance—the HTC One’s launcher includes a customizable news feed directly into your home screen. So the main thing  is BlinkFeed to the success of Sense 6 that is why they named their launcher as “BlinkFeed”.



So if you are also being excited to get this Blinkfeed launched on your Nexus device, follow the given step-by-step guide to get HTC’s Blinkfeed launcher on LG Nexus 5.

What you will need

  • Your LG Nexus 5 must be rooted and installed CWM or TWRP custom recovery otherwise you will not be able to flash this Blinkfeed on your device.
  • Enable Unknown Sources, you will find this option under Settings->Applications->check unknown sources.
  • Also enable USB debugging mode on your device, settings->Applications->Development->check USB debugging.

How to get HTC One M8’s Blinkfeed launcher on LG Nexus 5

Step 1: Download the HTCBlinkFeed.Zip file

There are two options to download this either on your phone or PC. But I will suggest you to go for PC as you will get all the information related to this modded version of Blinkfeed. You can also download the file directly by clicking on the download link.

Step 2: Boot into recovery menu



Once after getting the file on your desktop, connect your device to PC and copy the downloaded file in to your device’s SD card. And the reboot your device into recovery mode – Press and hold Volume Up+Home+Power button for few seconds.



Step 3: Flash HTCBlinkFeed.Zip on Nexus 5

As you go inside the recovery mode you will several option, select “install zip from SD card” (If you have installed CWM recovery) or Tap Recovery(If you have installed TWRP recovery) both will ask you to provide the zip file, browse the HTCBlinkFeed.Zip file and install it.

Step 4: Set Blinkfeed launched as default

Your next task after installing the Blinkfeed is to configure, first of all make this launcher the default one so that toy can use all features of it. It all depends how you customize this app, you can embed news, twitter and more. Here below at the end of the post I have included a video that will help you to install and configure this tweak.

Anytime you want to switch back to the default launcher you can do so by simply opening Settings, then finding the entry titled Home. Select the launcher you want to, and everything will be back to normal.
