Honda gets approval for testing its self driving car in California

Many companies are gearing up for their self driving cars and there is no doubt that self driving vehicles look like future of transportation system. Now, Honda Motor received the approval from the state of California for its self driving car to drive on the public streets.

California Department of Motor Vehicles has listed the name of the companies, who have got permission for the autonomous cars and the latest entrant in the list is Honda. Few other companies who have got approval are Tesla Motors, BMG AG, Mercedes Benz and Nissan Motor.

According to a report of Reuters, Honda is deploying the advanced driver assistance systems to its Honda and Acura models. With this Honda joins the list of  companies investing in autonomous car technology.

The Japanese car makers have already secured area for testing its self driving cars in Concord, northeast of San Francisco. Now California joins the list of cities that includes Florida, Nevada and Michigan that have passed the rules for testing the self driving cars on public roads.

Google Inc. has said that the self driving car technology is going to be available by 2020.
