HitchBot US Trips comes to an end in just two weeks

By | August 3, 2015

The Hitchbot is robot created by Dr. David Smith of McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada with his partner Dr. Frauke Zeller of Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada and it is from Ontario Canada. Two weeks ago, this talkative and friendly robot had started its journey to see America. But unfortunately, the journey of Hitchbot to see some tourist’s places of America has come to an end in mere two weeks, as the robot was vandalized in Philadelphia.

This was not the first time the Hitchbot was travelling, as it has already traveled Canada, Netherlands and Germany. The journey of those places was successful only because of kindness of people, because this robot can travel on its own. It interacts with the people and learns their culture and speech as well as it also posts some pictures to the social media.

But the trip of America was to tough for the robot, as it just lasted for 2 weeks. But the team behind this robot said that they will keep experimenting on the human interaction and artificial intelligence of the robot, but this is also obvious that this robot will not resume its America trip quickly.

Hitchbot has also posted the below message:

Oh dear, my body was damaged, but I live on back home and with all my friends. I guess sometimes bad things happen to good robots! My trip must come to an end for now, but my love for humans will never fade. Thank you to all my friends.

So thanks to vandalization of the Hitchbot in Philadelphia, the road trip of America comes to an end, but the team behind this project said that they will give more updates on 5th August of this week. So hope the Hitchbot starts its journey and site seeing in America or outside America pretty soon
