Online Streaming service platform, Hero Talkies raises funds

Online entertainment startup, Hero Talkies has received an unspecified sum in its first round of funding from a group of High Net worth Individuals (HNIs). Actor Suriya, south India movie distributor Sanjay Arjundas Wadhwa and some NRI investors like UK based Balaji Panchapakesan, Poland-based Shankar Venkatesan and US-based Vasikaran Venkatesan have invested in this round of funding raised by Hero Talkies.

Hero Talkies is a Chennai based online entertainment startup that provides streaming service of Tamil Movies. The startup was founded by two brothers, V. S Aathitiyan and V. S. Pradeep in 2014. The startup will use the fund for content and customer acquisitions across different geographies. The company is also planning to increase its customer base.

The CEO of 2D Entertainment, Rajsekar Pandian said about the development, “As a forward-looking organisation we are keen on exploring several partnerships that expand our existing portfolio in the entertainment industry. With movies moving towards digitisation it was a logical step to bring into our fold an online streaming platform.”

Currently, Hero Talkies have more than 600 movies on its platform. It also has 30,000 signed up users and 7,500 subscribed users in 55 countries like US, UK, Canada, etc. The co-founder of Hero Talkies, V.S. Aathitiyan said, “I met Suriya through my father last year and explained to him about my business and requested him to endorse it as a brand ambassador. He sought time. I was in touch with his manager. A few months back, Suriya evinced interest in investing with us,”
