Google Voice MMS capabilities stretched in North America

By | October 7, 2014

Google has stretched carrier support for picture messaging over Google Voice. After working with carriers for support, users on hundred different North American carriers, including AT&T, T-mobile, Sprint, Rogers, Telus, Bell Canada and many other carriers.

From now carriers can be able to receive MMS messages on their Google Voice number. But there is not even a single word on any carriers outside of North America mentioned. Also, Verizon is conspicuously absent from the list, and users report that MMS over Google Voice is not working on Big Red. We can say this is worth feature there is nothing like limited support for picture messaging on some carriers at some times.

After the hangouts integration we have beenĀ able to verify that its working right now on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile as expected with some glitches and here and there. If not being able to receive picture messages was holding you back from using Google Voice, you might want to take a look now if your carrier is supported.
