Google is planning to give a couple of starter patents to some small company, which will help them to protect their property and start their projects. This program has some condition, one condition is the company, who is getting patents of Google will have to join company’s licensing network, which will help in stopping and defending the patent trolls.

According to TechCrunch, this scheme is called Patent Starter Program by Google. This will offer free patents to new members. The 50 members, who will join the Google’s Patent Starter Program, will get access to the database of patents, which was purchased by Google from third party. For joining this program Google has certain criteria for the starter ups. The 2014 revenue of the company should lie between $500,000 to $20 million, so only when they are accepted Google will give 3 to 5 patent based on their business out of which they have to select two to keep with them.

Participants of this program will have to join License on Transfer Network (LOT) program for two years. If the patent holder company wants to leave the program before two years, then the ownership of the gifted patent will be getting back to Google.
