Google not a competition to Tesla, Says Elon Musk

Elon Musk

Elon Musk, the highly celebrated CEO of Tesla Motors has admitted that he does not see Google as a potential competitor to its electric car business, however, he did not forget to add that Apple could be one of the competitors that Tesla has to watch out for.

Speaking at Vox Media’s Code Conference, Musk added that he has been watching the revolution in the electric car segment very closely and added that primarily, Google has never been a car company. Though, he suggested that other companies might launch their products in collaboration with Google, as Google has been on top of showing the potential for the autonomous transport, including the self drive cars, which have been making news since a long time.

Elon speculated about Apple being a potential competitor in the time to come, however, he further added that Apple has missed the opportunity of joining the wagon wheel of the revolution. He feels that with the kind of information available right now, Apple is not going to start mass production of its ‘special project’ at least by 2020, and by then, it will be a missed opportunity to make the early impression. Also, there are tens of cars companies in the world making their presence count, but still, none of them has over 10% of the market share.

The CEO of Tesla motors was all praises for the tech giant though, he added that Apple has always been capable of scaling the production as and when needed. But they are pretty new to the car segment, so I hope it works out.
