With the tons of tablets already available from manufacturers like Apple, Samsung and Sony. Sony’s Xperia Z3 tablet compact is the perfect competitor to the Google’s Nexus 9. First coming to the design Sony Xperia Z3, its look resembles the design of Sony Xperia smartphones. It looks exactly like the blown out Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone.It is slim, elegant and sleeky. It comes with 8 inch display with TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1200 x 1920 pixels resolution.

Coming to the Nexus 9 it is sleek and elegant with the subtle curves and it wraps around the aluminium sides and offers the user to feel it thinner in the hand than it is. Actually Nexus 9 isn’t as thin, but its curve sides make it feel so. One major thing which you will miss in Sony Xperia Z3 tablet and love it on the Nexus 9 is front facing dual HTC boom sound speakers. Nexus 9 features the 8.9 inch display with 1536 x 2048 pixels resolution and IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen.

Both are having slim and sleek design, excellent hardware, thin bezels and built to impress. But Xperia Z3 is extremely thin and built well. Both the devices are having its own pros and cons.

Performance and Storage


Sony Xperia Z3 is powered by Qualcomm MSM8974AB Snapdragon 801 processor with Quad-Core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU. It has 3 GB RAM along with 16 GB internal store and can be expandable up to 128 GB using micro SD card.

While Nexus 9 moved to the Nvidia this time, packs Nvidia Tegra K1 dual-core Denver processor that offers a clocking speed of 2.3 GHz and is coupled by Kepler DX 1 graphics and 2 GB of RAM. The tablet is also available is in storage variants like 16 GB and 32 GB.

Xperia Z3 is ahead in RAM and Storage options. Nexus 9 doesn’t have the option of expanding the memory with the micro SD card slot.

Camera and OS

In terms of camera, both tablets has got an 8 MP camera at the back supports HD recording but if we talk about front shooter, HTC Nexus has only 1.6 MP front camera with 720p video recording, whereas Xperia Z3 sports 2.2 MP front facing camera with 1080p Video recording. Xperia runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat version and can be upgradable to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Nexus 9 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop version.

Battery and Price

Sony Xperia Z3 packs the Non-removable Li-Ion 4500 mAh battery which can offer up to 23 hours of 3G talktime. While the HTC manufactured Google Nexus 9 tablet offers a whooping 6700 mAh battery claims to offer around 8.5 to 9 hrs of talktime.

Finally coming to the pricing of these two devices, Sony Xperia Z3 costs $529.99, where as Nexus 9 is available around $400.
