Google Maps app gets Material Design makeover

The search engine giant Google has recently announced that they are started rolling out the updated version of the Google Map with Material Deign for the Android Smartphone user. The Google  Gmail app for the Android Smartphone user updated recently, the major change in the latest update for Maps Android app is the inclusion of material design. The latest updated Google Map with new Material Design will be available in the Google Play Store to download.


According to one of the post on Google Maps blog. The Maps app now includes bright colors with the fresh and new design in surfaces and shadows which offered the feel of the real world. The new design is also adds the, Google Maps for Android app which also getting option to reserve a restaurant table with the use of OpenTable app ( currently available for the US Android user’s only) within the app itself as well as better Uber integration (in selected cities).

The Google has also notes which users will now see estimates for Uber’s pickup time with the price for their route in walking and transit directions in Google Maps. While Uber integration is not new, earlier the users were only able to see the Uber estimate for the travel time in the direction search. The updated maps app roll-out will continue for the next few days.
