The Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has come up with a new offering called Marathon M3. The highlight of the device is its monstrous 5,000 mAh battery that is rated to pump in a long lasting backup of 32 hours of talk time and 33 days of standby time respectively on 3G networks.
Running on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, the Gionee Marathon M3 boasts of a 5 inch IPS LCD display that packs a HD screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The device measuring 10.4 mm in thickness and weighing in at 180 grams does not adhere to the growing interest among consumers to look out for light weight and thin smartphones, but its heavy build makes sense with such a massive battery.
Energizing the Marathon M3 is a MediaTek MT6582C chipset housing a quad-core processor ticking at 1.3 GHz clock speed and 1 GB of RAM. There is 8 GB of native storage capacity that would surely not be sufficient to store the necessary digital content and hence, there is a micro SD expandable card slot that supports additional storage up to 128 GB.
The imaging hardware of the Gionee offering comprises of an 8 MP primary snapper at its back with the ability to capture HD 720p videos and a 2 MP front facing shooter to take charge of the selfies and video conferencing departments. The other aspects onboard the Gionee Marathon M3 include GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G and dual SIM functionality.
