Fashion searcher Roposo funded by Flipkart founders and other investors. Roposo offers choices in fashion across 150 web stores with categories. They have wide range from apparel, footwear, accessories and lingerie. These products are curated and recommended to each individual as per their taste. In other words we can say that Roposo platform is unique fashion discovery platform.

The search engine was launched by Giveter, another search engine for gifts. The word ‘Roposo’ means in French “a’ propos,” which means “with respect to”. Roposo is a full fledged social network where user can sign in using Google ID or Facebook ID.

The algorithm for Roposo was built by ex CTO of Zomato Avinash and Kaushal who is current CTO of Giveter. It was based on study of more than a million women who use Giveter.

Roposo has developed versions for app world and desktop too. According to Google’s Play Store Roposo app has been downloaded more than 50,000 times till now. At the same time people on their website spend over 200 mins which itself vouches on the powerful search engines.

The company was founded in 2012 by Mayank Bhangadia and Avinash Saxena. Mayank Bhangadia has graduated in Bachelor of Technology in Engineering Physics from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 2006. He has done his Masters of Science in Management and Finance from ESCP Europe. He holds Masters of Science in Petroleum Economics and Management from Institut Francais du Petrole (IFP School).

He started his career as Intern for a year in Thales in 2007. Simultaneously he worked Intern Analyst for PFC Energy too. In 2009 he became consultant in Schlumberger Business Consulting for almost 23 months moved on to become Senior Consultant in the company. He still holds the position in the company and founded in Roposo.

Roposo’s another co founder Avinash Saxena. He is graduated in Bachelor of Technology in Engineering Physics from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 2006. He started his career as Senior Research Associate in Evalueserve in 2006. He worked there 30 months and founded HTech Hands Talk Technologies P Ltd in 2008. Then he became Chief Technology Officer of Zomato and held the position for 17 months until he found Roposo.

The Gurgaon based company has received two rounds of funding. There seed funding of $1 million was done during July, 2014 by India Quotient and Binny Bansal of Flipkart. Roposo received their Series ‘A’ funding of $5 million by Tiger Global Management.

“We want Roposo to be better than Google and Facebook for fashion searches. We are sure serious fashion seekers will make Roposo their default fashion search engine,” said Mayank Bhangadia after funding. Roposo’s co founder Avinash Saxena said “Fashion discovery is an untouched space in India and our technology team has come up with unique ways to make this search highly intuitive.” 



Of late fashion search segment is seeing lot of activity. Doozton was acquired by another startup SnapDeal. Wooplr is another startup helping shoppers to discover fashion products in the stores. A definite trend can be seen in the segment like Flipkart acquisition of Myntra to spread its palette and Binny Bansal investment in Roposo initially and Tiger Global investment in Roposo, where Tiger Global is already an investor in Flipkart.
