By | August 5, 2014

Microsoft today has updated the official Facebook app for Windows Phone adding the bunch of new features out of beta. The latest update also brings the new design to the app. In addition to the redesigned user experience, Microsoft is planning “improved app performance” but didn’t detailed exactly how much faster Windows Phone users can expect it to be.

With the new update the app now supports more number of languages and gained the ability to upload the videos taken on your Windows Phone and it integrates the Facebook messenger for Windows Phone. Facebook users now can directly connect with the people hub which includes contacts, events and photo albums are powered by the Facebook Windows Phone app.

The latest version 5.3 comes with build number and here is the changelog of the new version.

  • Performance enhancement
  • Design tweaks
  • Messenger support
  • Video upload
  • Post detail page

This is the fourth update since Microsoft has launched the Facebook beta app for Windows Phone in April 2013. This update is for the non beta version of the Facebook app to bring its features to speed up with the ones included in the previous Windows Phone app. If you want to help Microsoft to test the Facebook features on its mobile platform then download Facebook beta version for Windows Phone from here.

Like BlackBerry, Microsoft has developed the Facebook for its mobile platform. This is not the first or second in the industry, facebook has not interested in building the mobile apps unless it is Android or iOS. We hope that Facebook will take over the app development for Windows platform, if it cares about its users. In the meantime Windows Phone users can only dream.
