EA Games to shut down servers for 50 games from June 30

Electronic Arts (EA), the most popular video game company has announced that it is going to shutdown the severs of 50 games from different franchises of the publisher. The company has said that this process starts from June 30th. This development may affect the thousands of players who are still addicted to some of the EA popular games like Crysis 2 and Battlefield 2.

This decision is the result of the GameSpy, the hosting service is set to cease its operations at the end of June. EA games has said that ” Since GameSpy’s announcements our staff are working on to evaluate the options to keep the services running”.

The company has explained its decision of shutting down these games as it claimed that drop in the people playing the game as the reason. The company has also said that it is not easy us to take this decision since developers put their heat and soul to develop these games.

EA has posted on its official website that, “The decision  to shut down the old games is never easy. The development team and the operation staff have put their efforts and hearts into these games and as much as customers will be playing them. It is difficult to see one retired”.


The company has also said that instead of concentrating on these older games, we will now focus on the  other popular video games. Here is the full list of games that are shut down form June 30th.

  • Draacula : Undead awakening for the Wii.
