As mentioned earlier Apple has now started rolling out the latest Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite for free to users who are running OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and 10.9 Mavericks. Before going through the download link make sure you have everything you need to backup the existing OS and install the latest one. To backup your data, you’ll need an external hard drive or a Time Capsule with at least the same amount of storage as your hard drive.

To get the update, you can simply click this direct link or head to the Mac App Store.

At WWDC 2014 we have seen the developer preview of this latest version of Mac, OS X Yosemite comes with a transformed look and feel to offer the OS aesthetic more in line with iOS, specifically the latest one iOS 8, as well as several groundbreaking new features like revamped Spotlight, Continuity, iCloud Drive, widgets for Notification Center, and much more. Notably, however, some of these features require newer hardware.
