Microsoft is planning to ship its shiny new HoloLens augmented virtual reality device in some time next year. In an interview with BBC Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft has said that the developer version of the holographic projecting eye wear will be out within next year.
But if you want to buy this device for your personal use or for gift, then sorry folks you have to wait a little longer, as the launch of the device will be a bit late. The company has not indicated that, when they are going to launch it for personal use? He said that the first version of this augmented virtual reality eye wear will be for developers and enterprise users.
Nadella has also described that this device is on “five year journey”, which will expand it to some other field. The release of the developer and enterprise edition is in one year time duration and Microsoft is fully aware that they have to develop number of apps, so that this device can be successful.
Earlier this year, Nadella has said that the new HoloLens will become the major gaming products in the near future. He also told to ZDNet, “I want us to push a lot more of the enterprise usage … In general Microsoft’s approach will be always this dual-use focus, or this multi-focus. What we can uniquely do is bridge consumer to enterprise. That’s in our DNA.”
This augmented reality headset was demoed in April and then June at E3, but Microsoft said that this product is still a work in progress. There is still time before this device will become more commercial and will be available for personal use, but we are looking forward to the developer and enterprise edition in next year.
