TapCibo Online Solutions P Ltd operates TapCibo has been rebranded Dazo.

Dazo is an Android app used for ordering food on demand, the app is not just a delivery services. The
menu is curated and users are given an option to choose 8 to 10 menu items for lunch and dinner.
They focus on catering to varied tastes of the consumer with a limited and highly curated menu. An user
can order choice of meal with just few taps on the app. Once the order is placed, in the backend
delivery executives carry smartphone powered by algorithms and real time tracking arrange food from
neighbourhood restaurants delivered at your doorsteps.

Dazo has wallet services through which customers can make entire transaction cashless and each day
lunch, dinner and snacks options are changed by including variety of cuisines. Dazo is fundamentally
changing the way people get access to great meals on demand right at their doorstep. The company has built technology for the perishable logistics space for food brands, can create much more demand to
serve new customers.

The company was founded by Monica Rastogi and Shashaank Shekhar Singhal. Monica Rastogi is the co
founder and has graduated in Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Delhi University in 1998.
She got 3rd rank in the Delhi University. Monica went to on do Master of Computer Applications from
HBTI Kanpur. She got 2nd rank in the university in 2001.



She started HCL Technologies as Project Lead in 2001 had long stint of 6.4 years with the company.
Later in 2010 Monica founded Explore in Android. She built more than 20 apps in education segment for toddlers. In 2011 she became lead for Android in Enterprise Signal. She held key role in defining the app development strategy around native and hybrid app in California, US. Monica moved to Bengaluru in May 2012 and lead the development of SurfBI – flagship product for enterprise business intelligence.

Monica was responsible for the development “enterprise signal and ES cloud’ apps allowed sales teams to engage, sell and service their customers right from their mobile device. The app provided analytics,
transactions and other features. She was with the company till August 2014.

Shashaank Shekhar Singhal is the co founder and Chief Executive Officer of Dazo. He has graduated in
Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Electrical Communication from Punjab Engineering College in 2007. He did his post graduation in Management, Entrepreneurship and Marketing from Indian School of Business in 2013.

He’s been honoured with several awards like Best Mobile Strategy from eyefortravel in March 2014,
mBillionth -m-Travel and Tourism Award from mBillionth Award South Asia in July 2013 and ISB Torch Bearer Award in April 2013.

Shashaank started his career as Junior Research Analyst in McKinsey & Company in 2007. He helped
client team plan and execute core analysis need for BTO client engagements. He worked with the company till March 2009. In April 2009, he co founded DesignChords.com – a web platform which used
crowdsourcing as medium to help businesses to fulfill their design requirements like logo, advertisement
and website. He developed websites like feedjif.com, tip9.com. He was nominated as top 40 asian web
startups to demo in Singapore Echelon in 2010. He is the one of the nominee for hottest 20 Indian
startups to demo in headstart 09 in Mumbai.

Dazo-Funding - Feature 1st

 

In May 2011 he joined as Product and Marketing Manager in Accentium Web P Ltd. He lead a team of
20 people for product experience for new products. He worked with Accentium till Feb 2012 and moved
as Director of Mobile in redbus.in in May 2013. He was instrumental in expanding redBus app customer
base from 100k to 2.5 million. He won the international eyefortravel Award for best mobile strategy held
in US – March 2014.



In October 2014, he along with Monica Rastogi founded Dazo. The company received an undisclosed
amount from a bunch of investors includes Sumit Jain – Co founder and Chief Executive Officer of
CommonFloor, Aprameya Radhakrishna – Co Founder of Taxi For Sure and ex advisor of Ola Cabs and
Ashish Dev Kapur – Co Founder of Yo! China. Apart from these 3, the seed funding also saw participation of Rajan Anandan – Managing Director, Google India, Amit Agarwal – Country Manager, Amazon India and Vinay Goel – Director, Product Management, Google Maps and Local.

Earlier in the year, Alok Goel – Ex Chief Executive Officer, FreeCharge.in has invested in the company.
Monica Rastogi is wife of Alok Goel. The funding will be used for enhancing product, technology and
ramping up the operations into new localities of Bengaluru. Right now they are operating across Indira
Nagar, Domlur, Koramangala, Old Airport Road and Bagmane Tech Park areas in the city.

Dazo-Funding - Feature 5th

Dazo has tied up with restuarant partners like Tadka Singh – famous for north Indian food, The Ants
Cafe for Italian food like pasta, Kitchen Of Joy for Bengali food and Chai Point for evening snacks. The
startup is serving 150+ orders on a daily basis. They are receiving repeat orders 2 to 3 times a week.
Dazo has downloaded over 4000 times and has high rating of 4.4 in the Google’s Playstore.

According to the Dazo CEO Shashaank, a new food partner gets as many as 20 order on their first day
of Dazo partnering. “Our food partners are processing, on an average, 10+ lunch orders daily, which is
a significant number for them in terms of take-away order, especially on weekdays. We want to cover
entire Bengaluru within six months. The next three months are going to be very critical for us,” he
further added.

After funding Alok Goel, Former CEO of FreeCharge said “Dazo has shown very high customer
engagement along with industry-leading repeat rates and cohorts. The team has build a highly positive
unit economics business that’s scaling rapidly through technology innovation. They haven’t spent a single rupee on marketing till date.”

Sumit Jain, co founder and CEO of CommonFloor says “I am impressed with the calibre and experience
of Dazo’s founding team. They have been able to build a superior product experience at such an early
stage. The complementary skill sets of the seed investors and advisors will further aid the growth of the
business.”

“The food tech industry is very similar to the taxi industry with a lot of real-time logistics and tracking
technologies involved. The Dazo team has built very sophisticated systems and a scalable technology
platform from the inception of the business,” said Aprameya Radhakrishna, co founder of Taxi For Sure
during funding.

Food technology services that includes online ordering and delivery services is attracting lot of venture
interest from past few months. Mumbai based food ordering app TinyOwl raised its Series B round from
Matrix Partners, Sequoia Capital and Nexus Ventures. Another Bengaluru startup Swiggy received $2
million from Accel Partners and SAIF Partners.

Biggies Foodpanda and Zomato have entered food delivery space with Ola Cafe entering the fray to
make foothold in the segment.
