Comcast’s Xfinity app let you control other smart home devices

Comcast said that its Xfinity Home Service device now supports some third party gadgets. For this, the company has started “Works with Xfinity Home program”, that allows customers to control and manage all the home automation gadgets via one mobile application. Currently company has partnered with four devices for its Works with Xfinity Home program.

Now, Comcast Xfinity owner can use Android and iOS Xfinity app to control some automation gadgets you own. Currently people can control four automation devices that includes: August Smart Lock, Lutron’s Caseta light controls, Nest Thermostats and Chamberlain MyQ garage controller by Xfinity app.

Senior Vice President and General Manager of Xfinity Home Daniel Herscovici said, “We want to make the connected home something that is approachable, and to do so, we want to make it wicked easy, to make devices talk to each other, to make installation, setup and support easy.”

Company is planning to allow users to control all smart home services through new X1 set-top box and voice remote control in the near future. Comcast is also planning to launch an SDK, which will allow other home automation platforms to build links for their own setups easily with Comcast’s approval. Comcast has said that integration for some other third party smart products is on the way.
