Comcast is starting a new low cost internet service for senior citizens, by launching a pilot scheme in San Francisco and Palm Beach County, Florida. This new pilot plan for senior citizens is an extension of the company’s Internet Essentials services, which was launched back in 2011 for the families with low income.

Currently, the Internet Essentials service of Comcast offers an internet plan of 10 MB per second for just $9.95 per month. According to the company, it has connected more than 500,000 poor families through this Internet Essentials services program.

Through these schemes Comcast is planning to make internet use possible for more and more people. Through this new plan for senior citizens, Comcast wants to give senior citizens internet access, as less than half of senior citizens of age more than or equal to 60 have internet connectivity.
