Singapore based food discovery app, Burpple has raised $6 Million in Series A round of funding from Tembusu Partners, SPH Media Fund and Triumph Capital. The company will use this amount to expand its reach in some other cities in Asia.

Burpple is a food review app, which allows its users to find good restaurants and cafes in Singapore and Malaysia. Users can decide the place to eat based on the reviews given by other food lovers and Burpple editors from its website and mobile apps.

With this fund, Burpple is planning to expand its reach to some other Asian cities and also looking to hire more engineers and product development employees for expansion of its business. The company is also planning to introduce complementary dinning services. The number of its users has doubled to 4 million in last 12 months.

Dixon Chan, the co-founder and Chairman of Burpple said, “We are well positioned to match consumers to restaurants as our users are the very ones recommending the joints to other users. This is different from restaurants telling you themselves that they have the best food and that you should give them a try,”

Burpple has recently launched an online service that connects Food and Beverage (F&B) owners to Burpple users. The service has signed up 1,000 F&B owners since its inception and the company is looking to refine it by using the fresh funds.
