Bengaluru FC to Tie Up with SAP for Fan Engagement App

By | December 16, 2014

All seem to be going on pretty nicely for Bengaluru FC these days. In a recent move, the I-League champion club has partnered with SAP to announce a mobile app basically targeted to engage the fans. The basic motive behind launching this app is to give a dedicated and particular platform to the fans to engage and discuss about the club. That includes activities like engagement through the social networking platforms, match day experience sharing, discounts to the groups of fans at various partnered outlets. news and updates related to the club and players and real time visualization in case of a live match goes on.

This launch comes at a perfect time as the second round of I-League is starting right from January 17th, 2015. Being the winners of the first edition of I-League, Bengaluru FC will get into the tournament with a large fan base and a lot of expectations, which will give an initial boost to the user base of the app which is scheduled to go live by the second week of January 2015.

This is not the first time that SAP is associated with a sports body, earlier they had partnered with German football team for the world cup and KolKata Knight Riders (Indian Premier League) and coincidentally, both the team turned out to be winners in the respective tournaments. Other partners with which SAP has worked in the recent past are ICC (International Cricket Council), Women’s Tennis Association, NBA (National Basketball association) etc.

The app, yet to go live for the general fans will be available for Android and iOS in the initial stage and hopefully it will soon be available for Windows Phone platform as well. The app has been developed using SAPUI 5 (SAPs’ mobile app development platform) and for the real time visualization, SAP has used a feature called Swarm to manage how users converse real time about the team and stadium. The app also has another awesome feature like “Share-a-Ride” which will allow the fans to carpool to the stadium on the day of the match.

Overall, this seems to be a decent try to engage fans in various activities right before the start of I-League where Bengaluru FC will start as hot favorites. Let us wait and see how good this collaboration of Bengaluru FC and SAP turns out to be, the app will soon be available to download for the users and we will keep you updated about the same.
