Facebook CoFounder’s B Capital Raises $143 Million to invest in Indian Startups


B Capital, Singapore based Venture Capital firm started by Facebook’s CoFounder¬†Eduardo Saverin and Silicon Valley Investor, Raj Ganguly has closed a $143 Million round to focus on South Asian and Indian Startups. According to a report filed with US Securities and Exchange Commission, as many as 18 investors participated.

B Capital invests in startups working in fields like eCommerce, financial services, travel and health. It helps the entrepreneurs with a global idea to launch and scale the startup.

In a LinkedIn Post, Eduardo and Raj Ganguly said that there is a gap in the startup ecosystem on many levels such as funding availibility, talent, hiring and exits. In a longer run, B Capital is hopeful of bridging that gap and proving to be a catalyst in the startup growth in India. B Capital plans to make a positive impact on the community of 2 Billion people in India.

Eduardo has been pretty active in the Indian startup ecosystem. Recently, he invested $13 Million in a baby care online marketplace, HopScotch.
