Archos has announced the launch of a pair of Android based smartphones namely Archos 50c Oxygen and Archos 50b Oxygen respectively. One of them is powered by the true octa-core SoC – MediaTek MT-6592. Both the smartphones are based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean platform and they are available for sale in select countries initially.
Detailing on the specifications, the Archos 50c Oxygen comes with a 5 inch display that carries HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels translating to a pixel density of 294 pixels per inch. Furthermore, the handset is equipped with an octa-core MediaTek MT-6592 processor that is clocked at 1.7 GHz paired with 1 GB of RAM under its hood.
The handset features 8 GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 64 GB with the help of a micro SD card. Also, there is an average camera set comprising of an 8 MP primary snapper and a 2 MP front-facer onboard. Powering the Archos 50c Oxygen is a 2,000 battery that is responsible in delivering a decent backup.
Coming to the Archos 50b Oxygen, this handset also features a similar 5 inch HD display but it includes some changes. There is a quad-core MediaTek MT-6582 processor under its hood clocking at 1.3 GHz backed by 1 GB of RAM. Also, there are two variants of the handset – 4 GB and 8 GB of internal storage space that can be expanded up to 64 GB as in the octa-core model. The other specs remain the same with a 2,000 mAh battery.
On the pricing front, the Archos 50b Oxygen and Archos 50c Oxygen are priced at $2290 and $300 respectively.
