Apple Music gets 15 million users, but only 6.5 million paid users

At the WSJD Live, Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook reveled that Apple Music has now 6.5 million paid subscribers. Currently Apple Music has 15 million subscribers, but out of 15 million only 6.5 million users are paying $9.99 per month to listen music on company’s music streaming service. This means that remaining 8.5 million are still on the three month free trail.

This is a small number of paid subscribers if we compare it to 20 million paid customers of Spotify. Apple’s Music streaming service went live on June with 3 month free trail options. The trail period of Apple Music ended on September, so company has started collecting money from October. There is also strong possibility that people forget to cancel their subscription when trail ended and got charged for the October month. But it still shows a pretty good number of paid subscribers.

It will take time to gain popularity for Apple Music service, but Tim Cook looks pretty happy with this development. At the WSJD Live interview he said, “It’s going really well, fortunately, lots of people are liking it.”
