By | October 24, 2014

Along with the bigger iPad Air 2 Apple has introduced new iPad Mini 3. Apple put all of its upgrade chips into the iPad Air 2 pot this year, as the iPad mini 3 is barely changed from last year’s model. Let’s see how it compares to its biggest rival, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4.

Cheeky quips aside, the iPad mini remains a very good compact tablet available in the present market. But has its lack of advancement made it susceptible to attack from the Android elite? If you are also thinking the same then read this complete Apple iPad Mini 3 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 comparison.

Apple iPad Mini 3 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4: 8.4-inch 2560 x 1600 AMOLED display
iPad mini 3: 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 IPS screen

Both brands are known for their best in market display screens but Apple has got little more attraction than Samsung, in fact IPS display demand is more and the iPad mini 3 looks to continue it. Its 7.9-inch screen combines with a 2048 x 1536 resolution (2K resolution) to produce 326ppi – that’s exactly the same as iPhone 6.

Samsung Galaxy Tab also has bigger 8.4 display with the resolution of 2560 x 1600, also it produces more pixel density than iPad Mini 3 which is 359 ppi. Frankly, the display which Tab S has got is far better than the IPS one on iPad Mini 3, its AMOLED display technology offers better and crispy display experience.

iPad mini 3: Aluminium construction, 7.5mm thick, 331g

iPad Mini 2 was the best and compact tablet all the way which gives premium feel while holding. Its sleek and metal body adds another charm and it seems that iPad Mini 3 is almost similar to its earlier version expect some hardware changes. Apple this time while u[grading iPad mini introduced Touch ID as well to extra security purpose.

No doubt, iPad Mini 3 has got the crown already for this segment, so Samsung lets face this with Plastic FauX-leather body but, this tablet is also light in weight and doing good.

In terms of storage space, iPad Mini 3 comes in three variants (16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB) and there is not other way to extent it externally while there is an option with Tab S to extend it up to 128 GB, also available along with 16GB and 32 GB inbuilt storage space.
