Apple officially confirms an iPad event for October 16

Rumors were rife regarding the upcoming Apple event that is slated to happen on October 16 wherein the upcoming iPhones would be launched. Now, it is official that as the company sent out invites to the tech media for the event. The invites state that the even will take place in Apple’s Town Hall auditorium on the Infinite Loop Campus in Cupertino, California at 10AM PT / 1PM ET.

Other than this, the invite reads, “It’s been way too long” and we can see the launch of Apple’s refreshed iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 respectively. From the numerous leaks that have been making rounds across the online world so far suggest that the iPads of this year will sport Apple A8 chipset with an M8 co-processor along with Touch ID and Apple Pay features.

Both the tablets are claimed to be thinner that their predecessors with the iPad Air 2 measuring a mere 7 mm. Also, the tech titan is likely to announce a new iMac line-up alongside the iPads. These new iMacs are said to boast new and higher resolution displays with 6400×3600, 5760×3240 and 4096×2304 pixel resolutions respectively. Apple appears to be in plans to launch a 12 inch MacBook with Retina display as well, though we have not heard about this much in rumors.

As the Mac OS X Yosemite Beta 5 and Golden Master Candidate are let out for developers lately, we can expect Apple to prep the final release of the platform at the October 16 event. Also, updated iWork and iLife applications and redesigned iTunes 12 could be seen at the event next week.
