Amazon Prime Video acquires broadcasting rights for AMC’s ‘Into the Badlands’

Amazon Prime Video has acquired AMC’s “Into the Badlands” exclusive broadcasting rights in the UK from Entertainment One Television. The financial terms of the deal has not been disclosed.


More or less based on the class Chinese tale ‘Journey to the West,’ the series ‘In the Badlands’ is set in a land controlled by feudal barons and is story of a great warriors and a young boy who goes on an adventure across a dangerous land on a spiritual odyssey. The story revolves around a loyal soldier of Barons who is called Sunny Who. It is about how he grows swiftly in martial arts through the ranks to become Head Clipper and trusted advisors to the merciless Quinn and various violence he encounters. The drama series is produced by a list of producers that include AMC Studios and stars Danniel Wu (Tai Chi Zero), Marton Csokas (The Lord of the Rings), Aramis Knight (The Dark Knight Rises), Oliver Stark (Luther), Emily Beecham (28 Weeks Later), Orla Brady (Fringe), Sarah Bolger(The Tudors) and few more.

Further to the acquisition, the series will be available to Amazon Prime members in the U.K on a weekly basis from November 17th, after they air in the U.S Entertainment One launched the show at TV market MIPCOM earlier this month. New episodes will be broadcasted every Tuesday through to the season one finale on December 22nd.
