Amazon has announced the launch of the Fire HD 6 and Fire HD 7 tablets. The duo of reasonably priced tablets priced is available for pre-order in different color options and their availability is pegged for October 2, 2014.
Both Amazon Fire HD 6 and Fire HD 7 are stuffed with a quad-core CPU with two 1.2 GHz cores and two 1.5 GHz cores. The processor is aided by 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB or 16 GB of native storage capacity. Connectivity features onboard these slates include single-band Wi-Fi and SlimPort enabled microUSB 2.0 port.
The Amazon Fire HD 6 flaunts of a 6 inch display with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels that translates to a pixel density of 252 ppi. On the other hand, the Amazon Fire HD 7 boasts of a larger 7 inch 1280×800 screen with pixel density of 216 ppi. Both tablets have similar imaging hardware with a 2 MP main camera and a front-facing VGA snapper.
Additional features onboard the tablet duo includes a mono speaker for the Fire HD 6 and dual-stereo speakers for the Fire HD 7. Both devices are equipped with Dolby Digital Plus enhancement for better audio performance.
The slates are fueled by Android-based Amazon Fire OS 4 that provides complete integration of the Amazon’s shopping and content services.
When it comes to pricing, the Amazon Fire HD 6 costs $99 for the 8 GB model and $134 for the 16 GB model, whereas the Amazon Fire HD 7 starts at $139 for the 8 GB model and $174 for the 16 GB model.
