Amazon Echo to support SmartThings Device

Amazon is looking to partner with SmartThings to give power to the different home automation devices with the help of Amazon Echo. Amazon Echo is a voice controlled Bluetooth speaker, which is designed to be a personal assistant by doing works like helping you to answer some questions, updating you with latest news, playing music and some other stuff.

According to a blog post of SmartThings, this Amazon Echo will now have ability to power any SmartThings automated device. These devices also include some non-SmartThings devices, which are connected to a SmartThings Power outlet with lights and switches from the company. Amazon Echo can already power some devices like WeMo and Wink, but this new addition of SmartThings device makes it more useful for the users. Initially this device was not that much good, but right now it is working very good and becomes my one of the favorite. Its voice reorganization is way better than that of Siri and Google Now.

The official blog post reads as follow,

“We’re excited to announce that SmartThings is now compatible with Amazon Echo!

For those not familiar, Amazon Echo is an Internet-connected speaker that responds to commands and questions that you ask it. (Think of it as your tall, dark, and handsome personal assistant.)

By starting sentences with “Alexa,” you can play music, hear the news, get the forecast, and now… control your SmartThings-compatible lights, switches, and anything plugged in to the SmartThings Power Outlet.”
