Amazon Android app update : Instant video streaming and more

Amazon has finally brought the prime Instant video service to the Android devices with an Instant video app available through the Amazon app store. The new update to the Amazon app let the users to access the Amazon’s entire digital catalog, which means that besides the instant video content, users can shop for the apps from the Amazon’s app store. This supposedly makes the Amazon app store antiquated, except for the solely app focused interface.


Amazon is also now offering 5GB free photo backup through its cloud service with this latest update. Below the complete changelog of the Amazon app in the play store.


  • US customers now can make use of the single app to discover and shop for millions of physical and digital products.
  • Prime members in the US can stream the unlimited Instant video with the Amazon app by downloading the Prime Instant video player which can be downloaded with Amazon play store.
  • New app enables the US customers to discover and purchase Amazon’s digital catalog, in addition to best mobile shopping experience on millions of physical goods.
  • 5GB of free photo backup with the Amazon cloud drive.

For now this app is compatible with phones and with some tablets such as Nexus 7 and nexus 10. It is not clear whether the Amazon’s dedicated tablet app will the get the similar update or not.
