But this technology has grown with leaps and bounds in this industry.

So when the world is open to accept whatever the technology is bringing them, the advancement of technology is a never ending process, it will surprise you with all new innovations created by them.

In the year 1997, a microcontroller technology have been created and named it as “Arduino”. Raspberry Pi, an Italian engineer and followed by other engineers came up with an idea of making a mini computer board, which is affordable and user friendly. Anyone can access the digital computing along with real-world components like motors, switches, sensors and lights.

Firstly, the 3D printer has microcontroller and not microprocessor. The difference is that the microprocessor needs a lot of components to attach in order to get the machine work, but in microcontroller it needs a tiny amount of components to be attached into the chip, which saves a lot of money.

You can find the Arduino mega class microcontroller in the centre point of all the 3D printers available to the customers’ grade and using the smart technology called the conversion of analog signal to digital signal creates an astounding mark all over the world. To create a 3D printer, the first thing you need is the 4 stepper motors, the first three motors would be used for controlling the movement in all the three axis X, Y, Z and the last one to control the flow of filament. Sometimes, for other designs they might need 5 stepper motors to control.



Arduino mega board is not compatible with NEMA-17, so in order to make it work, the stepper motor chips have been used to render sufficient muscle to power the motors.

The 3D printing circle has made a new accessory board or you can even call it as a shield for the Arduino mega board called RAMPS (RepRap Arduino Mega Pololu Shield) which subsumes these driver chips. It also designed to manage a wide variety of 3D printer designs.

The latest update to the 3D printer is that it can be connected to a PC, or phone via USB, they are created as a USB peripheral device.

It works with ink and paper, like every 2D printer, but the interesting fact to know how 3D objects are created. From an anonymous website, every sheet of the specialised paper is converted to a 3D layer with the help of ink printing which sticks to the 3D layer.

Once you have strolled out all the pages of 3D layers, take out the output paper tray and keep it in microwave oven for 15 minutes to allow the ink to blend with the pages, as soon as it gets cool, dunk the whole pages into the water and the unused paper dissolves and only the 3D object would be left. With the help of A4 ink-jet printer, you would be able to print the 3D object with in the height of 6 inches of an A4 sheet.

It is simply brilliant but there are many unknown hurdles which seems to be difficult for 3D printers to survive, the cost of the ink, sheet, special dunk and dissolving paper would shoot up to the sky level. We are still amazed how the normal budget printers are coping up with this workload.
